Hi, I’m Matt Davis, and I’ve spent my life immersed in music. With decades of experience playing guitar and working with musicians, I know how to make learning fun, approachable, and rewarding. My teaching approach is built around your goals, whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or refining your skills.
As a private guitar instructor, I’m passionate about connecting personally with each student. You’ll always work directly with me—no one-size-fits-all lesson plans here. Let’s make music together!
Check out my music on Apple Music or Spotify!
• Option 1: Message me to check availability, and I’ll hold your preferred time for 48 hours while you complete your purchase.
• Option 2: Purchase your lesson or package first, and I’ll connect with you to pick the perfect time.
No, I currently provide in-home lessons exclusively within the city of Seattle. Staying within city limits helps me keep travel times manageable and schedules consistent.
Apps and YouTube are great tools—I even use them myself for inspiration and exploring new ideas! However, learning guitar is more than just watching videos or following a program. With private in-person lessons, you get:
• Personalized Guidance: I’ll tailor each lesson to your skill level, goals, and interests, ensuring you’re learning what matters most to you.
• Immediate Feedback: Apps and videos can’t correct your technique or answer your questions in real-time—I can.
• Structured Progression: I’ll help you stay on track with a clear plan, so you avoid the frustration of jumping between random tutorials.
• Motivation and Accountability: It’s easier to stay committed when you have a personal connection and someone cheering you on.
Online resources are great supplements, but private lessons are the best way to build a solid foundation and truly enjoy the process of learning guitar. Let’s make music together!
I teach guitar to students of all ages, focusing on beginners and intermediate players.
That’s great! I specialize in helping beginners start their guitar journey. We’ll work at your pace and focus on building a solid foundation.
Yes, you’ll need your own acoustic or electric guitar so you can practice in between lessons. If you’re not sure what to buy, I’m happy to provide recommendations!
At this time, I only provide individual lessons. This ensures each student gets personalized attention.
If you give me at least 24 hours’ notice, I'll be happy to reschedule or give you a credit for a future lesson. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will forfeit the lesson fee.
I’ll supply exercises, song suggestions, printed music for songs we're working on, and practice plans. However, you’ll need to have your own guitar and basic accessories like picks, a strap, a tuner, and a notebook for notes.
Yes, for students under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present in the home for the duration of the lesson.
Yes, music theory lessons are part of my curriculum to help students understand the fundamentals of music.
My lessons are 1-hour because it’s the industry standard for effective and meaningful instruction. It gives us enough time to work on skills and answer questions without feeling rushed.
Yes, because practice makes progress. Repetition over multiple days helps strengthen neural pathways and develop muscle memory, making each skill you learn easier to recall and apply to your future of making music.
